Board spammers

Postby dcuny » Thu Jul 28, 2005 9:44 pm

I deleted two spams posted by 222. You might want to trim a couple suspicious members off the list.

For my own phpBB2 forum, I added a mod for deleting groups of people. It came in handy when I had to get rid of about 200 bogus spambot "users." :?

I've deleted 222
I think the "turing test" (entering hard to ocr characters) should keep bots off. There's little I can do against human spammers though. I took a look at the pbpBB source and it should be easy to modify it so it could send mails again.
On the other hand, I personally don't like sites where you need to register with a valid email address.

I agree - having to put in the email could deter a lot of potential users. I like the "Turing Test" instead. I should add that to my own board.
