Bug: No viewport in WinXP

Postby pndragon » Sun Nov 20, 2005 6:42 pm

The latest nightly build has no viewport in WinXP.

It seems to be working just fine in Win2000.

Also:
The default tool is not selected by default in either system.
    Selections cannot be renamed.

Ah, the WinXP issue is new. I'll check that.
I've seen the other two bugs you've mentioned, but unfortunately not fixed them yet :?

Should be fixed in 0.5.2...

Hi Jim, I've tested the latest development version (see my message in the Development forum) on Windows XP over here, and it seems to work fine (with both, the software renderer and OpenGL).

Could you do me a favor and try this latest version on your box? (there's no hurry).
If OpenGL is causing the problems, check if the software renderer is ok (options->realtime-renderer-settings). Please let me know if it works!

When I first opened the new jpatch_20051121.jar, I received the "no JOGL installed" message and it opened with the software renderer.
So far so good. I installed the JOGL in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_05\bin and made sure the realtime renderer settings were reset to OpenGL. I then reopened jpatch_20051121.jar.

This is what I got:

While I'm thinking of it, there's no Java2D viewport either.

Which Java Version are you using (you can type java -version in a DOS box to view it)?

I tried importing an older version of JOGL into eclipse.... still no viewport in WinXP so the problem probably lies elsewhere. I can't check on Win2000 at the moment due to a stop error (INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_SECTOR). Really quite annoying :x

Before I forget...
Which Java Version are you using (you can type java -version in a DOS box to view it)?

Code: Select all
java version "1.5.0_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_05-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_05-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

When I originally reported the problem, the build I was using (on WinXP) was "1.5.0" so I upgraded hoping that might fix it. No good.

I haven't yet tried it with 1.5.0_05, but with and older 1.5.0 version in works fine under XP here.

Is anybody else having the same problems?

If I can't reproduce it, I'll try to setup a version that outputs some status information that should help to find out what's going on. I'll let you know when it's ready.
