No INS-Key on Apple-Keyboards

Postby Guest » Sat Mar 25, 2006 9:55 pm

Hi.

Nice program. I like it. :)

I've found a little Bug.

There is no 'INS'-Key on an Apple-Keyboard.
Therefore 'Ins'-Shortcut (inserting controlpoints) does not work on Apple-Keyboards.

Mmh. In Apple-Keyboard, INS-Key and HELP-Key are identical.
If you click on INS/HELP, HELP is used instead of INS

Hi and welcome to the JPatch forum!

If you click on INS/HELP, HELP is used instead of INS

So it does work using the HELP key?

PS: Future versions will support custom keyboard shortcuts too.

No ... the Help-key does not work. :(

I see.

I'm afraid that there are many bugs that only affect Macs, because I can test JPatch only on Windows and Linux :(
Right now you'll also need at least a two-button mouse.

The customizable keyboard mappings will be supported in one of the next 0.5.x development versions, but right now 0.5.x is much less stable than 0.4 was. So I'm afraid that you'll have to wait for 0.6 for this being fixed in a "stable" version.

Alternatively you can also check out JPatch 0.4 from the CVS (it's tagged with "pre04_1") and change the mapping in the file /jpatch/src/jpatch/boundary/JPatchSettings.java.
Detailed instructions about how to access the CVS (I recommend using Eclipse) can be found here.

If you'd like to try it with the current development snapshot, there's a xml file called /jpatch/boundary/layout.xml that controls menu/toolbar layout and keyboard shortcuts. I'll add an option to load an alternative "layout.xml" file in one of the next development versions (this version loads the xml file from the jar archive, but you can try to modify it there with a zip tool - this way you don't have to check out the sources...)

Thank's.
I'll try it with cvs.

Probably, if I find some other Bug for Macintosh I would reply.

--- Edit ---
I tried, it does not work. So it's better for me to wait for the new release.
