Something I haven't really seen in other 3D animation programs is an exposure sheet. That is, somewhere to jot notes of what you'd like the character to do at various points.

It's something I've more traditionally associated with lipsync, but I think it makes as a stand-alone sort of thing as well - especially if JPatch ever allows sketching directly onto frames. But that's more into the distant future. ;)

There's no compelling reason that it has to be in this particular layout, though. For example, Magpie (the lipsync program) uses the "traditional" vertical layout, but I found Papagayo's horizontal layout to be much easier to use. Likewise, Pixar's marionette program reverses the layout of the timeline.
