Art of Illusion's UV Mapper

One of the more sophisticated plugins of Aoi is the Polymesh Editor. It's now got a full-fledged UV unwrapping system. There's a nice article about it here, as well as a Flash demo.

It uses ABF++ (Angle Based Flattening), and - the main reason for mentioning it here - the source is in Java. :)

Blender implements both LSCM (Least Squares Conformal Mapping) and ABF++, and from what I've been reading, ABF++ gives superior results. I've had a look a the white paper, but the math is way out of my league. :(
