Importing Animation Master

Postby SharkD » Tue Jul 01, 2008 6:04 am

Hi!

I'm trying to convert/import an Animation Master project to JPatch/POV-Ray. I am able to import the spline model OK, but there are keyframes/bones associated with it. Since JPatch doesn't fully support importing, how can I fish out the keyframe information and reconstruct the object by hand? The project (.prj) file is readable in a text editor. I believe the keyframe information is contained within [POSECONTAINER] and [CHANNELITEM] objects, however I am unable to make sense of the numbers that follow.

Here is an example of one of the CHANNELITEMS for x-axis translation (there are additional ones for the y and z axes):

Code: Select all
[CHANNELITEM]
Name=X-Translate
Interpolation=2
[SPLINE]
CPs=5
5
0 -2.25101e-009
7
25:0 -1.91336e-009
7
1:0:0 -1.02046e-009
7
1:20:0 -5.10228e-010
5
1:40:0 0
[ENDSPLINE]
Modified=02/09/2001 5:50:37PM
[ENDCHANNELITEM]

There exists one CHANNELITEM for each point of the spline, for a total of thirteen.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Sorry, JPatch only parses the meshes, no bones, actions, etc. I'm not an expert on the A:M file format, so I'm afraid that I can't help you with that. Perhaps the folks on the A:M forum can help you out.

Future versions of JPatch might be able to load bones as well, but I can't tell yet.

I was under the impression you still couldn't mention competing products on the A:M forums. :|

But he could ask about file format details without mentioning other products ;-)

Since you are abandoning patches :cry: JPatch may no longer be considered competition...

Heh. I doubt that JPatch has ever been considered an A:M competitor.
But this might change once the new version is finished. SDS are in many respects superior to patch-modes, and once there's a program that can load A:M patch modes, convert them to SDS and has decent animation features...
