User support for JPatch

suspect i'm missing en-US locale

Postby zmemw16 » Sun Sep 05, 2004 4:19 pm

managed to force myself to an OS re-install, now i'm getting the
following in a model import from a jpx file, trimmed and then saved as a jpt

Can't find bundle for base name org.apache.xerces.impl.msg.XMLMessages, locale en_US
java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name org.apache.xerces.impl.msg.XMLMessages, locale en_US

solution i assume is generate locales en_us ?

nope - not fixed by re-generating locales

dpkg-reconfigure locales and default as en_US does not
seem to have done anything

silly, why is file locales dependant ? name strings ?

Hi,

sounds strange. I'd need some additional information to troubleshoot this:

Which OS and which JRE are you using?

Do you start JPatch from the jar archive (with java -jar)?

Does it happen with every model you try to load, or just with a particular one? (In case it's just a particular one, please send it to me via email).

Can you post the exact error message (with stack trace if there is one) please.

I'll have to do some research...

libranet 2.8.1 upgraded to testing
had to do a re-install, may have missed something though

java is sun j2sdk 1.4.2_04

started from desktop icon, properties are

stephen@xeon:~$ cat Desktop/jp310804
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Exec=/opt/j2sdk/bin/java -Xms800M -Xmx800M -jar /home/stephen/jp310804/jpatch_20040831.jar
TryExec=
X-GNOME-DocPath=
Terminal=true
Name=jp31082004-800M
GenericName=
Comment=
stephen@xeon:~$

before i send my aircraft, let try to make a smaller test file, also not totally sure which version of jpatch, i've been using, i tend to track the file links you post

maybe a jpatch_version tag in next version?? :-)
would that break backward compatibility?

i'll do a log file for you starting it will c/line from the above desktop file

when i posted about importing models, i think i suggested putting in a displacement to the imported model of <maxx,maxy,maxz>*1.1

i'm curious as to how you've done it. unless i'm missing something, like maybe, are the tabs on the rhs of the screen active for load(keep) operations?

i haven't done any signicant java, and was plodding along slowly building a standalone prog to merge two models and output it as a third.
mainly because i couldn't see how to extract the relevant sources without a lot of extra stuff.

right, quick play yeilds the following

libranet 2.8.1

looks interesting. I always used redhat and recently switched to fedora, but I'm not really happy with it. It made some problems during installation, and while working with it it locked up completely some times (no more networking, no CTRL-ALT-F1 console switching, nothing... I had to remove the battery of my laptop, because it didn't even respond to the power-switch) - something I've never seen before with any linux I ever used...

are the tabs on the rhs of the screen active for load(keep)

No, they don't do anything right now.

Back to your "locale" problem: I still don't know if it is specific to one particular model file, or if it happens everytime you try to load a (any) xml model?

I did some googling, but without any results. There are three possibilities:
1) There's something wrong with your linux setup.
2) I use the apache xerces xml parser incorrectly.
3) Theres a bug in xerces.

I don't know if 2 is very realistic, because I've never heard about such a problem before.
I'll check if there is a newer release of xerces available and will include it in the next version.
