Can we get a short lip sync lesson?

Postby nine » Mon Jul 11, 2005 7:57 pm

I want to lip sync a short sentence: Hello World! just to test.

I have a model: an ant

But how to do it?
Can we get a short lesson on it?
Just getting the steps in doing it!

If I can understand it I will do a WINK tutorial on it
so everybody can have some character saying something like this:
Say hello to the world with JPatch and JLipsync!!

Wouldn´t it be nice?
Some ads done by the members!!!
:D
Of course it would be best if dcunny or sasha made a tutorial with WINK!
I believe it is not so much work... Perhaps two hours....
Just resizing JLipsync and JPatch to 800*600 or choosing that resolution so everybody can follow the tutorial.
Start WINK and a new file - deciding which area to screen capture.
Some presses on the Pause-key to get the captures
and then some text to describe what is going on
and then Rendering to get a HTML and a SWF file.
That is all!
Showing us how to say: Hello World!
with JPatch and JLipsync
hopefully having a .mov or .avi-file to look and listen to!
Here you can have a look at the model I want to lip sync: My Ant

To be honest, I've never actually tried to import a sequence into JPatch. I understand all the steps, I've just never done it. :)

I really do not understand your answer...
You are trying to say that JPatch is not ready for lipsync?
due to your reply to my suggestion having a JLipsync forum...

Here you can have a look and listen to my ant saying Hello before the sun has risen...
my_ant_hello01.mov(87KB) -
my_ant_hello01.swf(184KB) -

My Ant saying Hello!

And you can find a .jls file from JLipsync - JPatch did not understand
as far as I understand.

I can see there is a lot missing in the animation module
so perhaps JPatch is not ready for lip sync...
but I do not believe you need any bones to do it...
JPatch having the expressions and the morph mapping you can do the lipsync - with a little help... or?

To use JLipSync, your must define phoneme to morph mappings for your model (in the modeler's test menu).
JPatch does not read the .jls format but the magpie timesheet format (JLipSync can export in that format).

I hope this helps, I'll add a short tutorial about lipsyncing to the Wiki when I have time.

I made a little bit lipsyncing just: Hello! in the dark!
I really do not know how to get the sun inside POV-Ray!

My Ant:Hello!

What extension do the Magpie have?
Now it was written without extension!
Will JPatch need an extension on the file to export it?

Just add a lightsource and position it wherever you want it to be!
The extension of the timesheet file doesn't matter.
