Saturn at night

I stumbled across this beautiful image in a magazine:

When I first saw it, I thought it was rendered, but it's actually a photography taken from the Cassini probe last year, when it was passing through Saturn's shadow (the sun behind the planet, illuminating only its rings, and even revealing some previously unknown dust rings).

It also reminded me how important backlit surfaces are in CGI - semitransparent surfaces "glow" when lit from behind - this is very important when rendering leaves on a tree, etc.
The example above looks a lot more spectacular though.

Btw, the blue dot on the left side, just outside the main rings (visible in the high-res version), is Earth.
