Free Renderers Going Commercial

Both the Indigo and Kerkythea renders have gone commercial. This seems to have caught a number of people off guard.

Not a big deal for me, since neither were useful for rendering animation anyway. :?

Was Kerkythea unbiased? As I recall, the unbiased renderers were slow in producing even a grainy render, let alone a smooth one.

Yes, I believe they are full spectral renderers as well. That means they're competing in the same space as Maxwell, so it'll potentially be tough going, especially since they aren't very cheap.

I think that pretty much leaves Lux Render as the only major free renderer of this sort. From what I've read, it's much slower than any of these other renderers. I don't think anyone would seriously consider using it for animation.
