I don't think there's a need to make the voices as low as it was before. It's not nearly as intelligible, and you lose the British accent, which is most of the gag.

Too bad that they (the moai) can't be given musical instruments... then they would be rock stars...

I think the most tricky part will be the surf wave, so I've started to write some wave simulation code.

Here's a first result:

download video (3MB)

It doesn't yet try to simulate the breaking.
It will also require a particle system to create lots of foam and dust when the wave crashes down.

The due date for this competition is two weeks away, and I've done nothing for it. It wouldn't take too long to record the voices, but I assume that the forward progress with JPatch is taking precedence?

By the way, here's a site that's got some nice sculpts for some inspiration of how to translate 2D characters into 3D.

Yes.
Sorry, I forgot that I asked you for the voice recording and thus forgot to inform you that I've stopped working on it.
I ended up to develop software for wave-simulations and thought the time was better spent on JPatch's general purpos animation tools. The topic wasn't too inspiring either. Let's see what the next round's topic will be.

No need to apologize - I thought the topic was OK, but didn't really get that into it myself. It would be nice to make one of these videos at some point, but I'd rather see progress on JPatch. :D

It looks like there are three submittals for this round, but there doesn't seem to be anything posted yet. I don't think the topic was that successful. :?

No idea what the next round topic is.

I had a look at the submissions... It looks like we weren't the only ones uninspired by the topic. :?
